Waterfronts and seafronts: drivers of urban transformation and investment opportunities

PCA MBF Panel Rovigno

The Mediterranean Business Forum (MBF) in Rovinj addresses one of the most central issues for contemporary coastal cities: the role of waterfronts and seafronts in urban transformation processes and investment opportunities.

These border areas between cities and the sea are no longer just places of transit or leisure, but real drivers of regeneration. Through the redevelopment of ports, waterfronts, and abandoned maritime areas, cities are redefining their identity, strengthening their connection with the landscape, and generating new social, cultural, and economic value.

The panel will be moderated by architect Pier Nicola Currà, who will lead the dialogue with the speakers, stimulating reflections on how to reconcile public interest and private investment, creating spaces that are inclusive and, at the same time, attractive for development.

Speakers:

Margherita Brianza – Landscape Architect, parcnouveau
Andi Efthimi – CEO, Atelier 4
Antonio Revedin – Director of Strategic Planning and Development, North Adriatic Port Authority
Andrea Schiattarella – CEO, Schiattarella Associati

These speakers will share their experiences and insights from different urban contexts, allowing for a rich discussion on the multifunctional role of waterfronts in the future of cities.

Friday, September 20, 2025, 2:30 p.m.
Hotel Lone, Rovinj
